Death at a Funeral (2007)
|
Frank Oz directs very few films, despite this he has had great success with the films he directs. Highlights include: Little Shop of Horrors, Bowfinger and The Stepford Wives. Frank Oz builds the story around Daniel, a decent married young man still living in his fathers home. When his father dies Daniel is forced to organize the funeral. Daniel faces great hardship on the painful day, mainly an undertaker who botches the job, the return of his selfish brother from the US, his cousins fiance who has accidently injested drugs ,a handicapped uncle who is the most unbareable pain in the neck and a dwarf in the corner who nobody knows who he is. Frank works the screenplay of Dean craig to his advantage building up the pressure of this Disfunctional family as more and more things happen. As a film its brilliant witty and amusing in places Death at a Funeral has its place among some of the greater comedies of the last 10 years. Death at a Funeral is a brilliant reworking of the disfunctional family comedy. As a film its brilliant, you will never have so much fun at a funeral ever again Review by Patrick Hill
