Shooter (2006)

Sure it may be a cheesy film that is never really going to gain critical acclaim but this is a good film for action fans everywhere. It follows a former military sniper as he is sent to scout out possible locations that could be used to assassinate the president at upcoming speeches. He is then framed for an assassination. There are some parts which are just plain silly but the majority of the film works very well, it is tightly made with Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) hunting down those who set him up with the help of a rogue FBI agent in search of the truth.
Some of the dialogue is overblown and rubbish, the stuff of a teenager’s wet dream but the story is very good and the action set pieces are superb. I heartily recommend this film.
