Die Hard 4.0 (2007)
|
Die Hard as a trilogy was superb, to choose a favourite would be like choosing a favourite child... but I would still choose the first one, solely for the pure unadulterated wit and action that it displays. John McClane is an action hero and he rocks. In this film he is back on terms with the NYPD and is now a senior detective. He gets called in to pick up a hacker and take him to Washington where upon terrorists take control of the US computer network thus crippling the country. Bruce Willis is getting on now and he has said it was hard for him to make this film. He proudly says he picked up four or five stitches making this film and it is not hard to see how.
The film is action all of the way, from start to finish there are around 4 major set pieces and a number of skirmishes as John tries to save the day. I am tempted to exclaim that this is the best Die Hard film yet as it ramps everything up while continuing injokes from the first trilogy, it is also a highly quotable film and all of the main parts are played superbly including the role of villain by Timothy Olyphant and his counterpart Maggie Q. John seems a little too indestructible in places but this is forgiven by his brilliant way with words, this film tries very hard to make jokes and they all succeed This is a top film that is sure to do well and if you like action films which actually have half decent plots and are funny to boot then this one is for you... Yippee Kayee MotherF***er!!! Review by Jonathan Little
