16/6/2007 Tell No One (2005)
I first found out about this film a good three years ago. My interest was stirred when I found it was an adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel. Harlan is my favourite author and I love all of his books whether they have different plots or not. The thing which doused my wish to see this film most was the fact it was French and seeing as there are very few French films I like I assumed it would be rubbish. Nevertheless I went to see it on release day and I was pleasantly surprised, the fact is that I couldn’t remember the book as I read it a good 6 years ago so I didn’t know exactly what happened. It was a beautifully filmed picture with brilliant acting by the whole cast, the story was portrayed perfectly and while slow in places was a non stop thrill ride. Now I realise that not many people will see this in this country or in America because Subtitles are something we are rather ignorant over. Foreign films do not do well which is a shame as you are missing out if you avoid this. The story follows Alex who’s wife Margot was murdered 15yrs ago. He receives an email 8yrs later from her and then his life gets turned upside down with the discovery of two bodies in the woods where she went missing. The police are on his trail and he must find out what happened in those woods. Apart from the pacing being a little slow in places there is nothing wrong with this film at all and you will enjoy it. The only major downside is not being properly introduced to the characters towards the beginning so you get a little lost but it all comes together towards the end. Harlan Coben should be proud of this first adaptation of his work and he appears so in the one shot in which he appears with a goofy grin on his face. Tell Everyone about this great film it is worthy of the two hours of your life it consumes.
