The Breakup (2006)
|
This film is a comedy of errors at least to start with. Sure I got a different experience to most audiences in that the first 20mins was in the wrong aspect ratio. This made Jennifer Anniston very fat which was good fun. It also showed it as a bad film. Sure I know when you film you keep the boom microphone extremely close above the actors heads so that it is sometimes still in shot. However I also know that it should not still be there when editing ends, even in the wrong aspect ratio. Not entirely sure what the thought process was there... or eve how the cinema got it confused but hey. This film is not overly good, I will come out and say that now. It is a tired Romantic Comedy setup and the only place where it is half decent is when they argue, because they are so good at it. I like actors who can reel off a lot of dialogue whilst being angry. Sure there are more important parts of acting but that is essentially as deep as this film gets. The two leads do ok jobs and Vince Vaughn's character will keep you amused. I like the whole story of his doing tours in Chicago more than the whole relationship bit with Jennifer Anniston if I'm honest. This is where the film is interesting. All in all don't see this film its not worth the money. Review by Jonathan Little
