Capote (2005)

I wanted to love this film and the odds are I should have. The problem is the character of Truman Capote is so truly hateable that it impacted on my enjoyment of the film. Messing with the minds of the killers just so he can get a good story for his book? The film has one sequence which is very hard hitting and it is the one where they actually kill the family. They show the shot of the fathers death a large number of times for short bursts to get the effect across and it works. This is a good film but there are a couple of places where you cannot relate to the main character and thus feel utterly distant from the story being told!
