In Bruges (2008)
|
After the assassination of a priest and accidental murder of a little boy, Ray and Ken go to Bruges under orders to hide out till things cool off. Uninterested in architecture, bored by history, and scornful of culture, Ray finds no delight in Bruges until he meets gorgeous Chloe and actor Danny. But Ray has a child’s death on his conscience, and soon he’ll have a vengeful crime lord to reckon with. The humour is subtle and earnest, the plotline is delightfully twisty, and the dialogue is as peppered with profanity as the bodies are with bullet holes. What else can you expect from the clash of three hit-men, a drug-dealer, and a midget in Europe’s best-preserved medieval city? You won’t expect how it all ends! Review by Elizabeth Little
